Women Troubles
An Original Musical Cabaret by Elle Tyler

Seeking 2-3 female-identifying actors or singing actors for a cabaret-style musical on “female troubles’: the various unique circumstances that befall women and aren’t talked–or sung!–about enough.

Seeking to portray a range of female experiences in age, race, ethnicity, sexuality, relationship to motherhood, and any of the many other facets of womanhood

Please prepare a monologue and/or a verse + chorus of any song you love made famous by or written by a woman (any genre: pop, rock, folk, musical theatre, jazz, etc.)

Actors/singing actors will collaborate on the creation of the work, devising monologues that may be set to music

SEEKING ACTORS FOR ALL ROLES
MAYOR BROOKS: Black woman, late 30s- early 60s; mayor of a mid-size city who is running for re-election
ALEX: Any race, female, late 20s- late 30s; jaded campaign manager for Mayor Brooks’s re-election campaign
EMMY: Any race, female, early to mid 20s; idealistic organizer who is gradually becoming hardened by campaign life
SUPPORTER: Any race, any gender, any age; supporter of Mayor Brooks’s reelection campaign who is just looking for a yard sign
